Martin was called to the Bar in 2004 and was admitted as an Australian Lawyer in 2000 in which he has since practiced predominantly in professional negligence, commercial law and building and construction law in the Supreme Court and the District Courts of NSW and Building Tribunals in Australia.

Martin has been an advocate since 1978, when he was admitted to the Bar in South Africa and practiced in human rights, medical negligence, criminal law and construction law.
